Elisha, This is an enjoyable piece…I admire the research you have done to develop the study! And of course it has a personal appeal for me, as it is another tiny chapter in our family history! Thank you!

The Brook Trout Chasing Minnow is really quite extraordinary. Love that you researched and told the story of a family item. Where in Columbia County, NY? My grandfather & great grandfather were in the Chatham, Rider’s Mill (Rider is a family name) Valatie area.

Thanks! It's actually an interesting story in itself - born into what I expect was grinding poverty in a one-horse town near the MA-VT border (Colrain) he graduated from Albany Medical College in 1867 (apparently a career change after the death of his first wife) at the age of 40 and ultimately settled in Copake.

Truly fascinating! I had no idea of Leander’s interesting history, as well as the story behind the house. Leander’s paintings are curiously similar stylistically to the painting on the stock of the ‘93 Marlin I think I have shown to you. I must look closer for hidden initials! Thank you for a most worthwhile read.

What are the dimensions of this carving? I'm a great follower of Plummer and trying to do similar carvings in his style, as no one has done carvings like this since he did them. His work tended to be large, but I have seen some smaller pieces recently as well.
